Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Red Lake, began with a heart attack. YES!  A HEART ATTACK!  Mr. Louis Biedler came to Red Lake to visit his daughters, Erna Saskosky and Audrey Drager and son Albert Biedler.  He became ill with a heart condition and requested a Lutheran Pastor to give him Holy Communion.  After much effort, Pastor Otto came from Dryden.  At that time they made arrangements to hold services in Red Lake.  Erna contacted all known Lutherans in the area and had an Easter service on April 2, 1956, at her home.  23 attended and 2 children were baptized.  After that they rented the United Church or had the services at the Saskosky’s to hold occasional services.

October 1960, the constitution was formed and the congregation became known as Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Red Lake, under the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Minnesota District.

The first resident pastor was Pastor Gade in June 1962

in August 1962, the congregation applied for a loan to build a church.  Much of the building was done by members under the supervision of Floyd Drager.  The building was finished in 1964.

We joined Lutheran Church–Canada in 1988.
